Dear WCMS Families,
Please join us for an important Parent Information Event focused on Internet Safety and Student Well-Being! We believe that keeping our students safe takes teamwork between school and home, and we invite you to be part of this important conversation.
We are excited to welcome presenters from North Range Behavioral Health, Keenesburg Police Department, and The Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking who will share valuable information to help families recognize online risks, identify warning signs, and support students in making safe, healthy choices. As we see an increase in risky student behaviors related to these topics, working together is more important than ever.
Choose the session that works best for your family!
Afternoon Sessions- Immediately following Thanksgiving lunch
Evening Session
We encourage all families to attend, ask questions, and learn practical ways to help keep our students safe both online and in their daily lives.
We look forward to connecting with you and strengthening our partnership to support our students! Please RSVP in Parent Square.

After-School Study Hall at Weld Central Middle School
We are excited to offer a new After-School Study Hall opportunity for WCMS students.
Study Hall will be held each Wednesday from 3:15–4:30 p.m. and will provide students with additional time and support to complete assignments, get help with schoolwork, and build strong academic habits.
A few important details
Study Hall is limited to 15 students each week.
Students must be referred and signed up by a teacher to attend.
Parents/guardians who are interested in having their student attend should reach out to their student's teacher.
Students may ride the activity bus at 4:45 p.m. to the local elementary school.
If your student is not riding the activity bus, they must be picked up at WCMS at 4:30 p.m.
The referring teacher will let you know that your student has been signed up and will communicate what subject or assignment the student will be working on.
We are excited to provide this additional opportunity to support academic excellence and help our students develop real skills for real life!
Thank you for partnering with us to support student success!

SRO Safety Spotlight
Middle School| This Week’s Safety Tip
“Know the Plan. Practice the Plan.”
School safety isn't just about what happens during an emergency—it’s about being prepared before one ever occurs. That’s why our schools conduct lockdown drills and utilize emergency notification systems such as BluePoint.
WHY DO WE PRACTICE LOCKDOWNS? — Lockdown drills give students and staff an opportunity to practice what to do during a potential threat. The goal is to make sure everyone understands the procedures and can respond quickly and calmly.
TAKE DRILLS SERIOUSLY — While a drill is not an actual emergency, practicing helps students and staff become familiar with the procedures so they aren't trying to figure them out for the first time during a real emergency.
WHAT IS BLUEPOINT? — Our schools utilize the BluePoint Alert System, which provides staff and students with a quick way to notify emergency personnel when an immediate threat or emergency occurs.
HOW WILL RESPONDERS BE NOTIFIED? — When a BluePoint is activated, designated staff and emergency personnel receive an alert with information about the activation. Depending on the system and notification settings, staff may receive an email, text message, phone call, or a combination of these notifications.
KNOW WHERE THE ALERT IS COMING FROM — Text alerts to responders may include a link to a map of the school showing the location where the BluePoint was activated. This helps responding personnel quickly identify where assistance is needed and respond as efficiently as possible.
FIRST RESPONDERS PRACTICE TOO — Lockdown drills allow school staff and law enforcement to practice communication, coordination, and response. These exercises help us identify what is working and where we can improve.
EVERY DRILL IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE — The goal isn't simply to complete a drill. It's to learn from it, make adjustments, and continue improving the safety of our schools.
A simple rule to remember:
“Know the plan. Take drills seriously. Be prepared.”
