Welcome to the Weld County School District RE-3J Website

Thank you for your interest in Weld County School District Re-3J, Let's Talk! We look forward to hearing your feedback about how we can provide the best possible education for all students.

District Announcements
A comprehensive Facilities Assessment was recently completed for Weld County School District Re-3J by HL Architecture.  The condition of each school facility was evaluated.  A newsletter regarding this assessment will be mailed to district residents this week.  This informational bulletin addresses the need for the assessment, a condition summary for each district school, and some of the priorities established through the process.
On Thursday, October 29, 2015, the Board of Education, district staff, and other officials will discuss the findings of the Facilities Assessment and gather community feedback on how to best address the district’s highest priority facility needs.  Those attending will help determine the direction needed based on educational goals and desires. The community’s feedback will play an important role in how the Board of Education moves forward when it comes to facility upgrades and strategically adding instructional space to address capacity issues.

October is soon approaching! Bully prevention month is right around the corner. During the month of October the Counselors at Weld Central Middle School are going to be focusing on uniting our school as one to help end the cycle of bullying. We are going to be joining thousands of other schools across the country and world, by participating in two very important days.

October 21st is Unity Day
On this day we are going to ask all of our students and staff to wear orange to unite against bullying. PACER.org is the leading campaign for this initiative and one of their slogans we are adopting for the month of October is “Make it orange. Make it end.” Not only are we going to be asking students and staff to wear orange to unite as one against bullying, but we are also going to be participating in PACER’s Project Connect. With this project we are going to create a paper link chain where each student is going to write what they can do as an individual to help make our school a safer place for their peers. All of the chain links are going to be connected together to symbolize everyone uniting as one against bullying at our school.

October 27th, is Mix-It-Up-Day at lunch!
This day is dedicated to shaking things up! We are going to be asking students to sit with people they do not know or usually hang out with at lunch this day. This national campaign, launched by Teaching Tolerance, encourages students to identify, question, and cross social boundaries. Studies done on this initiative have shown that crossing group lines and interacting with new groups of students can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with people who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can disappear! The hope is that meeting new people and making new friends can help eliminate bullying.

We are so excited to announce that starting next school year we will be implementing The Boomerang Project’s transition program WEB (Where Everybody Belongs). WEB is a student-led transition program that creates a welcoming, nurturing environment where sixth graders feel supported and cared for and it creates an environment of belonging. This program helps to reduce incoming sixth grade fears such as bullying and failure, and replaces it with support and connections with peers and school staff. For more information visit the counseling page and/or www.boomerangproject.com
