COLORADO ACTION FOR HEALTHY KIDS
The Colorado Action for Healthy Kids is currently accepting applications for parent advocates for the 2015-16 school year. Parent advocate volunteers and K-12 schools across Colorado will work collaboratively to make sustainable changes that aim to improve the school’s overall health and wellness plan. Selected parents and their school health teams will receive leadership training, coaching, and up to $1,000 in grant funding to develop and implement approved school wellness projects. Multiple parents from a school may serve as parent advocates and participate as members of the program and on the project team (see Program Description for details). Parents who may apply must be from schools with at least 40% eligibility for free-reduced school meals. The application can be found on the Colorado Action for Healthy Kids team Parent Advocate Program webpage and is due on 15 January 2015. Bilingual and monolingual Spanish speaking parents are encouraged to apply. For additional information, please contact Denise Marques (dmarques@ActionforHealthyKids.org or 303-781-1705) or Maritza Gutierrez (MGutierrez@ActionforHealthyKids.org or 303-917-4797).
